2012 Hall of Fame Inductee: Baldev Ahluwalia (Men's Swimming)

Each week leading up to the 2012 Brock Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on June 16th we will have a Q&A with each of the inductees.

This week we feature former Brock men's swimmer Baldev Ahluwalia.

1. Your most memorable moment as a Brock Student-Athlete?

As a Brock University student-athlete, my most memorable moment was from my first Ontario University Athletic Association (OUAA) swimming championships in Ottawa my rookie year.

It was so memorable because that is where I won a gold medal in the 200m free.

The win was a surprise to me, and I think a surprise to everyone else in the facility except for my coach Herb deBray.

2. Who inspires you?

The first person to realize a great idea.

3. What has been your greatest accomplishment since leaving Brock University?

Personally, becoming a husband, and a father to two wonderful kids.

Professionally, my greatest accomplishment has been an extension of work I started here in Dr. Sternin’s the physics lab in NMR. Designing medical diagnostic scanners that can help determine the extent of disease, guide treatment, and change patient’s lives.

It has been very challenging and rewarding.

4. What has been the most significant change at Brock University since leaving?

It has been more than 20 years since I toured the campus, ran along the escarpment, or visited friends in residence, so a look on Google Earth has provided me the answer… Tim Horton’s inside the tower.
