ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's basketball defeated the UQAM Citadins by the score of 81-65 in their second game of the RBC Classic Saturday night at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
The Badgers led by just two after 10 minutes,19-17, before putting together a run in the second quarter to take a 36-22 lead at the half. The two teams would play even in the final two quarters, but it was the hot shooting of newcomer AJ Manguerra who knocked down five three-pointers in the final quarter, to lead the Badgers to victory.
Brock had four players in double digits led by
Matt Marshall and
Johneil Simpson who added 17 points each. Marshall also pulled down 11 boards for the double-double. Manguerra was 5-for-10 from beyond the arc adding 15 points, while
Zachary Angelini chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds in the win.
Leading the Citadins was Greishe Clerjuste, who led all players with a game-high 29 points and 11 boards.
For the game, the Badgers shot 40.6% from the field going 28-for-69. They were also 9-for-25 (36.0%) from downtown and 16-for-18 (88.9%) from the charity stripe. UQAM shot just 30.4% (21-for-69) from the field, 33.3% (6-for-18) from three-point land and 65.4% (17-for-26) from the line.
The Badgers take on the Regina Cougars Sunday at 1:30 pm on the final day of the RBC Classic.
