PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - The Brock University men's and women's curling teams opened their regular season at the Trent University Bonspiel. The Brock women placed first overall and the men took home second place.
The Brock women, consisting of skipÂ
Erin Macaulay, Terri Weeks, Samantha Morris,
Danielle Robinson and Joanna Francolini finished with a 5-1 overall record to capture gold. They dropped their opening draw to Laurier JV by the score of 6-3 and then posted five straight victories over Queen's, Laurier Freshmen, UOIT, Trent, and Laurier JV in the finals.
The Brock men, consisting of skip Eric Bradey,
Jonah Mondloch,
Ryan Brown and
Jamie Waters posted a 4-2 overall record with victories over Carleton, Queen's, UOIT and Trent. Both their losses came against Laurier by scores of 6-5 in an extra end in Draw 3 and 8-2 in the finals.
