
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Brock University Athletics will be well represented this summer at the Pan Am and Para Pan Am Games, Summer Universiade and Junior World Wrestling Championships.
"Seeing how well Brock Athletics is being represented on the global stage is an affirmation of the talent, dedication, and commitment that we have on campus," said Brock University Interim Director Athletics and Recreation
Rob Cargnelli. "Brock Badgers athletes, coaches, and alumni are truly world class. I speak on behalf of the department and the University when I say we are incredibly proud of all their accomplishments."
Brock will have eight individuals taking part in the 2015 Summer Universiade in South Korea including rowers
Taylor Ashwood (Lightweight Men's Four),
James Potts (Lightweight Men's Four), Mark Alm (Men's Double Scull),
William Bryden (Men's Double Scull),
Zachary Lewis (Men's Pair),
Katherine Walker (Lightweight Women's Double Scull),
Stephanie Mowder (Women's Double Scull) as well as Brock Men's Basketball Head Coach
Charles Kissi (Team Canada Men's Basketball Manager).
At the 2015 Pan Am and Para Pan Games in Toronto, Brock has 12 individuals taking part. On the athlete side, wrestlers Michelle Fazzari (Brock alumni), Jevon Balfour (club wrestler) and Alex Brown-Theriault (Brock alumni) along with rowers Tim Schrijver (Brock alumni / Rowing M4-; M8+), Eric Woelfl (Brock Alumni / Rowing LM4-) and tennis player Joel Dembe (Brock alumni / Para Pan Tennis) will be competing in the games.
Brock Olympians
Marty Calder and Tonya Verbeek will be part of the Team Canada wrestling coaching staff. Six-time Paralympic medalist Elisabeth Walker-Young is the Chef de Mission for the 2015 Para-Pan Games. Other Brock athletics staff members involved in the games include

The 2015 Pan Am Games will held from July 10–26, 2015, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with some events held in seventeen other Golden Horseshoe communities. Approximately 6,135 athletes from 41 nations will participate in 36 sports. The 2015 Para Pan Am Games will follow in Toronto and surrounding areas Aug. 7-15.
