Late run leads Badgers over York 69-57
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's basketball
team (7-1 overall, 2-0 OUA) defeated the York Lions by the score of
69-57 at the Bob Davis Gymnasium Saturday night.
The Badgers led 50-37 with 9:30 left in regulation, before the
Lions went on a 13-1 run over the next six minutes making it a one
point game 51-50 in favour of Brock.
The young Badgers team would regain their composure, as they went
up by six points 60-54 with just under two minutes left. In the
final two minutes, Brock would connect on 7-of-8 from the free
throw line to secure the victory.
Brock had four starters in double figures led by freshman Joel
Whitty (St. Catharines, Ont.) who recorded 16 points and six
rebounds.
Senior Owen White (Port Hope, Ont.) added 13 points and seven
rebounds while freshman Didi Mukendi (St. Catharines, Ont.) and
sophomore Joe Kendrick (New Minas, NS) chipped in with 12 and 11
points respectively.
