Men's Basketball falls to No. 1 ranked Carleton 92-67
OTTAWA, Ont. - The Brock University men's basketball team (4-2
OUA West) dropped a 92-67 decision to the No. 1 ranked Carleton
Ravens (5-1 OUA East) Saturday night on the road. Carleton fifth
year seniors Aaron Doornekamp and Stu Turnbull combined for 47 of
the Raven's points.
Brock got off to a slow start scoring only 12 first quarter points
and trailed 50-29 at the half.
The Ravens shot 49.2% (29-for-59) for the game, to the Badgers
37.3% (22-for-59). Carleton also dominated the Badgers on the
boards by a 43-19 margin.
Doornekamp, the 2007-08 CIS Player of the Year, led all scorers
with 24 points and seven rebounds. Turnbull finished with 23 points
including three 3-pointers. Also in double figures for the Ravens
were junior Michael Kenny and senior Kevin McCleary who contributed
with 10 points each.
For the Badgers, freshman Joel Whitty (St. Catharines, Ont.)
recorded 14 points. Senior Owen White (Port Hope, Ont.) added 12
points while sophomore Joe Kendrick (New Minas, NS) and freshman
Didi Mukendi (St. Catharines, Ont.) contributed with 11 points each
in the loss.
Carleton shot 78.1% (25-for-32) from the charity stripe while Brock
connected on just 15-for-22 (68.2%).
The Badgers end the first half of the season next weekend when they
travel to Toronto to take on the Ryerson Rams and U of Toronto
Varsity Blues.
