Men's Basketball rolls past Paladins 82-46
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's basketball (4-2 overall) rolled past the Royal Military College Paladins by the score of 82-46 Saturday afternoon at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
Despite only scoring nine second quarter points, the Badgers led 34-23 at the half. In the third quarter, Brock outscored the Paladins 25-12 on route to the 36-point victory.
Brock had three players in double figures led by sophomore Brian Nahimana (London, Ont.) who recorded 13 points including a career best 7-for-10 from the charity stripe. Freshman Cedric Kasongo (Welland, Ont.) and senior Andrew Kraus (Markham, Ont.) contributed with 11 and 10 points respectively in the victory.
In his return to the Brock lineup, junior Joel Whitty (St. Catharines, Ont.) added nine points going 3-for-4 from beyond the arc.
Simon Dakin led the RMC offense finishing with a game high 18 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double. Jonathon Wilson also reached double figures adding 14 points and six rebounds in the loss.
In the specialty stats category, the Badgers outscored RMC 42-6 in points of turnovers while the bench scored 55 of the Badgers 82 points keeping RMC to just two points from non-starters. Brock shot 33.6% (29-for-86) from the field while keeping RMC to just 23.5% (12-for-51). The Badgers also outrebounded the Paladins 49-42.
The Badgers next action is Sunday, October 24th at 3:00 pm when they host the Acadia Axemen at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
