MBB: No. 2 Thunderwolves roll past Badgers 90-42

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's basketball team (9-11 OUA) lost to the No. 2 ranked Lakehead Thunderwolves (18-2 OUA West) by the score of 90-42 at the Bob Davis Gymnasium Saturday night. The Badgers have now lost nine of their last 11 and continued to struggle at home dropping their fifth straight.

Lakehead opened the game with an 11-3 run and led by 23 at the half 40-17. The Thunderwolves would extend their lead to 35 points leading 61-26 after three quarters.

Lakehead had four players register double figures led by Adam Johnson who led all scorers with a game-high 23 points and 12 rebounds. Venzal Russell contributed with 16 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and three steals. Mathew Schmidt and Benjamin Johnson chipped in 11 and 10 points respectively. Both players also pulled down seven boards.

The Badgers lone player in double digits was Michael Williams (Brampton, Ont.) who added 16 points, including four 3-pointers off the bench.

For the game, Lakehead shot 45.9% (34-for-74) from the field and 45.5% (10-for-22) from beyond the arc. The Badgers shot a season-low 23.2% (16-for-69) from the field and 21.9% (7-for-32) from thre-point range.

The Thunderwolves also dominated the glass outrebounding Brock 60-40. 

Brock was once again without Jameson Tipping, Didi Mukendi and Brian Nahimana due to injury.

Brock returns to action next Wednesday, February 15th at 7pm when they play host to the Windsor Lancers at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
