Western will take on Guelph Tuesday night in Game 3 at 7:30pm with the winner advancing to the finals.

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Brock University men’s hockey team (7-8-0) took the ice against the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) Ridgebacks (6-8-1) on Tuesday night. This match up had been rescheduled by the OUA earlier this season due to both teams being infected with the H1N1 flu. The Badgers entered the game battling to stay above .500, while the Ridgebacks looked to close the gap between them and the rest of the Western Conference.

Del Monte held off on ECHL to attend college first
Ryan Del Monte has been familiar with the ECHL for quite some time now. Ten years ago his cousin, Dion Del Monte, had 58 points in 67 games for the Roanoke Express. Now it's Ryan's turn. The ECHL All-Star has been terrific in his rookie campaign with the Johnstown Chiefs, notching 37 points in his first 54 games. Not bad for someone who waited seven years before turning pro.

UQTR is first place in the OUA entering the game with only one regular season loss. A highly offensive team led by Jonathan Boutin who leads the OUA in scoring with 35 points in 16 games.

The starting goalie for Brock would be Tommy Lee (Port Perry, Ont.) making is first appearance since shattering his heel in late 2007. Despite a strong performance from Lee, Brock was unable to defeat the Mustangs.

With Lørenskog IK of the Norweigan Professional Hockey League, Harpwood has played in 24 games, having posted a 3-0-1 record in his past four starts.

Jory in full recovery after serious injury
WINDSOR, Ont. - Brock University men's hockey freshman goaltender Kurt Jory (Brandon, MB) is in full recovery after undergoing surgery to repair a vein in his neck. He has come through the surgery with no complications and will return to St. Catharines in a few days.

Men’s Hockey shutout again by No. 9 Lakehead
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – The Brock University men’s hockey team (6-5-0-3) were shutout 3-0 for the second straight night by the No. 9 ranked Lakehead Thunderwolves (9-3-0-3). With the loss, the Badgers now sit in a three-way tie for first place in the OUA Mid-West with Guelph and York.

St. Catharines, Ont. – The Brock University Men’s Hockey team (6-4-0-3) took on the Lakehead Thunderwolves (8-3-0-3) in front of 749 Brock fans on Friday night. It was sure to be a goaltender dual with Lakehead’s goaltender Kyle Moir is ranked second in the OUA with a Goals Against Average (GAA) of 2.42, and Brock’s goaltender Kurt Jory (Brandon, Man.) is ranked third with a GAA of 2.43 set to face-off against each other.

St. Catharines, Ont. – Coming off of back-to-back overtime losses, the Brock University Men’s Hockey team (6-3-0-3) took on the red hot Laurier Golden Hawks (9-2-0-1) on Saturday night. In a rough and tumble game Brock managed to outscore the offensively talented Golden Hawks.

Waterloo, Ont. – The Brock University Men’s Hockey team (5-3-0-3) played the Waterloo Warriors (6-3-0-2) in the final game of their three game road trip. Despite Nathan Hooper (Hamilton, Ont.) notching a hat trick, Brock was defeated by Waterloo with 14 seconds remaining on the clock in overtime.

London, Ont. – The Brock University Men’s Hockey team (5-3-0-1) played the Western Mustangs (5-3-0-1) on the second game of their three game road trip on Saturday. The game was a tight battle from beginning to end and would require 34 seconds of overtime before a winner could be declared.

WATERLOO, Ont. – The Brock University Men’s Hockey team (5-3-1-0) played the Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks (8-1-0-1) at the Waterloo Rec centre on Friday night. It was a battle between two divisional leaders, with Laurier coming out on top 5-1.
