Williams has outstanding 2011 MSL Season
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Former Brock University men's lacrosse player and coach Shawn Williams had an outstanding 2011 Major Series Lacrosse season for the Brooklin Redmen as he led the league in scoring with 120 points including 41 goals and 79 assists in just 17 games.
This was the fifth time in his career that he was the recipient of the Bucko McDonald Memorial Trophy as Top Scorer in OLA Major Series.
In his Canadian Senior A Lacrosse career Williams has amassed 1291 regular season points (564 G, 727 A) in just 265 career contests.This was just the second time in his 17-year Senior A career that he registered 100+ points. The other season came in 2004 as a member of the Brooklin Redmen where he added 124 points in 18 games with 46 goals and 78 assists. In Canadian Senior A history (regular season only), Williams currently ranks 8th in points (1291), 6th in assists (727) and 17th in goals (564). He has also recorded 418 playoff points giving him 1709 career points which ranks 8th all-time in Canadian lacrosse history.
In junior with Scarborough, Williams also recorded 100+ points twice. In 1992 with the Scarborough Jr. B Saints he led the league in scoring with 123 points in 18 games adding 79 goals and 44 assists. In his second season of Junior A with Scarborough, Williams collected 129 points in 22 regular season contests with 62 goals and 67 assists.
In 2009, Williams became the first Brock lacrosse player to be inducted into the Brock Athletics Hall of Fame. He led the Badgers to four consecutive championships as a player and two as a coach. The five-time Team MVP is also the all-time leading scorer in Brock history.
Williams will look to lead Brooklin over the Brampton Excelsiors in the MSL best four of seven semi final series which begins August 4th.
