Badgers Pychel selected to Washington Stealth 2013 NLL Roster
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Brock University men's lacrosse player Justin Pychel (Welland, Ont.) has been named to the Washington Stealth 2013 National Lacrosse League roster.
"Congratulations to Justin on making the National Lacrosse League," said Brock Director of Athletics Robert Hilson. "Justin is a very tough defender and great young role model. We wish him the best of luck in his rookie season in Washington."
Pychel, a third year Con-Ed / Physical Education major, was chosen 19th overall by the Washington Stealth, In three season with the Badgers the strong, hard nosed defender has played in 28 games. In 2011 he recorded his first career goal as a Badger. In junior he played four and a half seasons for the St. Catharines Jr. Athletics and half a season with the Six Nations Arrows registering four goals and 14 assists in 72 career games while racking up 171 penalty minutes.
"This is a dream come true," said Pychel after being selected to the Stealth's 2013 roster. "It took a lot of hard work an dedication, but just because I've made it I can't stop working because the league is so competitive and any job can be taken if you don't perform. I would like to thank my parents for all the driving to tournaments and buying equipment etc. and to the great coaches and teammates over the years that have pushed me to the become the player I am."
The Brock men's lacrosse program has produced the most NLL players in Canadian University Lacrosse history. They have also been a dynasty winning 18 Baggataway Cup titles in 25 years.
