Men's Rugby drops season opener 19-7 to Mustangs
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's rugby team (0-1 OUA) dropped their OUA season opener to the Western Mustangs by the score of 19-7 Wednesday afternoon at home.
The Badgers, who were missing four key starters in Ray Barkwill (Niagara Falls, Ont.), Mark MacSween (Scarborough, Ont.), Ryan MacSween (Scarborough, Ont.) and Mike Berry (Trenton, Ont.), battled hard the entire game against a talented Western lineup.
Leading the Mustangs offense was A. Crow who recorded two tries leading all scorers with 10 points. M. Meschino chipped in with his first try of the season, while R. Tomlinson and B. Dovros both added converts in the victory.
Sophomore Jordan Prentice (Lindsay, Ont.) added the Badgers lone try. Third year Rory McDonell (Brantford, Ont.), the 2008 OUA leading scorer, chipped in with a convert.
