Brock men's rugby falls to Western 34-11
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's rugby team (2-3 OUA) lost for the second straight game, falling to the first place University of Western Ontario Mustangs by the score of 34-11 Friday afternoon at home.
Brock led 6-5 midway through the first half after senior Hugh McDonnell (Brantford, Ont.) added a penalty goal and a drop goal.
The Mustangs offense would then go to work adding two trys and a convert before the end of the half to lead 17-6 after 40 minutes. In the second half, Western would answer with three more trys and a convert to go up 34-6 to secure the victory and improve to 6-0 in the OUA standings.
Leading the way for Western were James Ojo Ade and Rory Tomlinson who recorded two trys a piece. David Jacks and Sebastian Pearson contributed with one try each while Mike Turnbull rounded out the scoring adding two converts in the victory.
Senior Matt Alexander (Oshawa, Ont.) added Brock's lone try in the loss.
The Badgers next action is Saturday, Ocrtober 15th at 1:00pm when they host the Queen's University Gaels as part of the Badgers Homecoming.
