Men's Soccer drops 3-1 decision to Waterloo

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's soccer team (1-2-1 OUA) dropped a 3-1 decision versus the Waterloo Warriors Sunday afternoon at home.

The Badgers took an early 1-0 lead before the Warriors answered with three straight goals over a 15 minute span of the second half.

The Badgers Dan Baldassarro (Niagara Falls, Ont.) opened the scoring in the 24th minute as he buried a shot past Waterloo senior goalkeeper Michel Saccone. This was his team leading third goal of the season.

The Badgers held the lead until the 67th minute, when the Warriors fifth year Chris Lam drove a shot over the outreached hands of Brock netminder Judon Gregory (Mississauga, Ont.) tying the game 1-1.

Less than seven minutes later, Waterloo took a 2-1 lead when Mohamed Aborig beat Gregory for his first goal of the game.

The Badgers would put the pressure on to tie the game, but it would be Aborig adding his second of the contest in the 82nd minute as he broke through the Badgers defense and buried a shot into the bottom right hand corner to secure the victory.

With less than two minutes left Waterloo goalkeeper Saccone would come up with a huge save on a Baldassarro penalty shot.

Saccone finished the game with seven saves for the victory. Gregory suffered the loss making eight saves.
