Women's Wrestling captures gold at Queen's Open
KINGSTON, Ont. - The Brock University women's wrestling team placed first overall at the Queen's Open capturing three gold, one silver and two bronze. The men were fifth in the standings.
For the women, Diana Ford recorded a perfect 3-0 record defeating Western's Brianne Barry in the finals to capture gold at 55kg. For her peformance she was named the Female Outstanding Wrestler. Laura Steffler defeated Guelph's Allison Leslie at 67kg to capture gold while Leeanna Taillefer placed first overall at 82kg.
Jasmine Mian (51kg) and Natasha Chang (63 kg) both captured bronze in their respective weight classes. Brock Club wrestler Alana King placed second overall at 51kg.
For the Brock men, Ryan McCracken captured silver at 82kg. Jake Needham (61kg), Brad Trimble (76kg) and Spencer Bruch (90kg) all finished third overall in their respective weight classes. Brock club members Mike Neufeld placed second at 130kg.
