Verbeek and Bondy capture gold at German International

GERMANY - Brock University women wrestlers Tonya Verbeek (Beamsville, Ont.) and Jessie Bondy (Windsor, Ont.) both captured gold this past weekend at the German International Tournament.

Verbeek recorded a perfect 5-0 record at 55kg and was selected as the Most Outstanding Female Wrestler. In the championship final she defeated Russian Natalia Golts, a multiple world medalist, 1-0, 3-1.

Bondy was also a perfect 5-0 at 51kg. She defeated Russian Ekatarina Krasnova, a former World Junior Champion, in her second match. She also defeated Russian Valeriya Chepsararkova in the final.
