Badgers Kick Off 2010 Racing Season in Guelph

The Brock Badgers Swim Team started the New Year off well as they traveled to Guelph for a competition there. Along with the Badgers; Guelph hosted Waterloo, Wilfred Laurier, York,  and an all-star club team from the Huronia region.  The Badgers performed well after a long Christmas training camp with many top five finishes.

Baylee Colquhoun finished 5^th in the 200m Freestyle, and 3^rd in the 400m Individual Medley and 200m Breaststroke. Holly Hopkins finished 3^rd in the 200m Backstroke and 4^th in the 50m Butterfly; with Keith VanHemmen also finishing 3^rd in the Mens 200m Backstroke. Lisa McCann placed 3^rd in the 800m Freestyle and 5^th in the 200m Backstroke. Cora Michener finished 3^rd in the 400m Freestyle behind teammate Victoria Culp finishing 2^nd. Delia Caughlin placed 2^nd in the 200m Breaststroke; Katie So placed 2^nd in the 200m Butterfly with Frank Woodley finishing 5^th in the Mens event.  Ilana Romanow took the lone Badger win, finishing first in the 400m Individual Medley; while both the Women's 200m Medley Relay and 200m Freestyle Relay finished 5^th .

Victoria Culp, Erica Dugas, Holly Hopkins, Lisa McCann, Cora Michener, Ilana Romanow, and Keith VanHemmen will represent the Badgers at Ontario Cup in Toronto this coming weekend as the team continues to train and prepare themselves to host the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Swimming Championships February 4^th - 7^th.
