No. 8 Badgers end regular season with 62-45 loss to No. 1 Lancers

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – The Brock University women's basketball team (18-3 OUA WEST) lost their final game of the regular season to the No. 1 ranked Windsor Lancers (21-0 OUA West) by the score of 62-45 on Saturday afternoon in the Bob Davis Gymnasium.

The Badgers held tough with a Windsor team that has been at the top of the standings throughout the season. Through the first three quarters of play, Brock managed to outscore the Lancers to take a slim 37-33 lead heading into the final stanza.

Unfortunately for Brock, the Lancers took off in the 4th quarter rarely missing any of the shots they took putting up 29 points in ten minutes. On the other side, the Badgers struggled to find their scoring touch with intense defense being shown by their opponents to end the game with the Lancers taking a 62-45 win to finish the season undefeated.

Ultimately, Brock showed that they can compete with the top ranked team in the CIS and will look to move onto the OUA playoffs to potentially have another crack at the goliath that is Windsor.

Senior Nicole Rosenkranz led Brock with 13 points and 12 rebounds followed by Andrea Polischuk who managed to collect 10 points in the game.

Windsor had three players in double figures led by Jessica Clemencon contributing 15 points and seven rebounds. Korissa Williams and Laura Mullins had 14 and 12 points respectively.

As a team, the Badgers shot 34.6% (18-52) from the field, 20.0% (2-10) from beyond the arc and 70.0% (7-10) from the free throw line. Windsor shot 40.3% (25-62) from the field, 26.7% (4-15) from three-point land and 80.0% (8-10) from the charity stripe.

Brock will begin their playoffs on Saturday, February 23 when they'll meet up with the highest remaining seed in the OUA West division after the quarterfinal matchups on Wednesday, February 20th.
