Women's Hockey blanks Windsor 1-0
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's hockey team (4-5-1 OUA) shutout the Windsor Lancers by the score of 1-0 Saturday afternoon at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
In a key conference matchup, Brock senior Beth Clause (Hamilton, Ont.) showed why she is one of the top goaltenders in the OUA as she turned aside 33 Lancers shots for the shutout. In ten games this season she has registered a league leading 345 saves.
After a holding call to Windsor's Kelly Calhoun at 2:05 of the third period, the Badgers power play would go to work capitalizing at 3:42 as sophomore defenseman Amber Wilson (Brantford, Ont.) would beat Windsor goalie Jamie Tessier for her first goal of the season and second of her career. Senior Courtney Sutherland (Mount Forest, Ont.) and rookie Brittany Veale (Sault Ste Marie, Ont.) were credited with assists.
The Badgers next action is Sunday, November 15th at 4pm when they host the Western Mustangs (3-5-1 OUA) at the Seymour-Hannah Centre. Going into Sunday, just three points separate five teams (4th-9th place) in the OUA Standings.
