Women's Hockey shutout by No. 8 Gryphons 3-0

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's hockey team (2-1 OUA) were shutout by the No. 8 ranked Guelph Gryphons by the score of 3-0 Thursday night at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.

After a scoreless 38 minutes, Guelph would open the scoring on the power play with less than two minutes left in the second period as Jenna Lanzarotta tipped in a shot from Kimberley Wong past Brock senior goaltender Beth Clause (Hamilton, Ont.) for her team leading third goal of the season.

In the opening five minutes of the third period, the Gryphons would take a commanding 3-0 lead after answering with back-to-back power play goals just 33 seconds apart. Guelph's Jessica Zerafa and Emily Corbett setup Tamara Bell who found the back of the net for her second of the season at 16:04. Just over half a minute later, with their 8th power play opportunity of the game, Jenna Lanzarotta and Jacky Sollis setup Dayna Kanis for her second the campaign. 

In goal, Guelph rookie Brooke Siddall turned aside all 25 Brock shots for her first career shutout. Clause registered 36 saves in the loss.

The Badgers will now be on the road for their next four conference games, before returning home on November 5th at 7:15 when they host the Western Mustangs at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
