Lancers dismantle Brock women's hockey 8-0

St. Catharines, Ont.- The Brock University women's hockey team (3-14-1 OUA) dropped an 8-0 decision to the visiting Windsor Lancers (10-6-2 OUA) at the Seymour Hannah Centre Saturday afternoon.

After the first period of play, Windsor was leading the score 2-0. Windsor would add four goals in the second period and another two in the third on route to an 8-0 win. The Lancers outshot the Badgers 31-16.

Leading the Lancers offense was Jenny MacKnight who tied her career-high four points adding two goals and two assists. Alyssa Baldin registered three points in the victory with one goal and two assists. Krysten Bortolotti (1G-1A), Candice Chevalier (1G-1A), Ally Strickland (2G), Courtney Spoors (2A) and Adalena Tridico(2A) all contributed with two points each. Adding single markers were Canadace Kourounis, Bree Polci, Lindsay Hoogstraten, and Jillian Rops.

In goal, Brock sophomore Emily Kelly (Port Elgin, Ont.) suffered the loss allowing four goals on 14 shots. In the second period, Claire Shaw (Rosemount, Ont.) replaced Kelly, giving up four goals on 17 shots. Lancers Karlyle Robinson recorded the shutout with 16 saves for her 10th win of the year.

On the power play, the Badgers went 0-for-4 and the Lancers went 1-for-3.

The Badgers next action is Sunday afternoon at 3:15pm when they host the Western Mustangs at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
