Women's Volleyball escapes with 3-2 victory over Laurier
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's volleyball
team (9-4 OUA West) escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Laurier
Golden Hawks Friday night at the Bob Davis Gymnasium (25-12, 25-18,
25-27, 24-26, 18-16).
This was the Badgers fifth straight victory of the regular season.
They currently sit in third place in the OUA West Division four
points ahead of Waterloo.
Leading the Badgers offense were juniors Erin Mercer (Rockwood,
Ont.) and Alex McKee (Whitby, Ont.) Mercer recorded a match high 17
kills and 14 digs while McKee contributed with 16 kills and 14
digs.
Sophomore Shannon Anderson (Newmarket, Ont.) added 10 kills and 17
digs for the double-double while senior Shauna Peddle (Stoney
Creek, Ont.) rounded out the Badger leaders finishing with nine
kills, nine digs, four block solos and four block assists.
Sophomore setter Ally Fast (St. Catharines, Ont.) also had a strong
match handing out 48 assists while collecting 18 digs. Senior
libero Kaila Wiley (Mississauga, Ont.) led all players with a match
high 34 assists in the victory.
