Women's Volleyball outlasts Waterloo 3-2


WATERLOO, Ont. - The Brock University women's volleyball team (12-6 OUA) outlasted the Waterloo Warriors in five sets 3-2 (25-13, 16-25, 17-25, 25-17, 16-14) Friday night on the road.

Leading the Badgers offense was the duo of senior Erin Mercer (Rockwood, Ont.) and junior Shannon Anderson (Newmarket, Ont.) who both finished with double-doubles. Mercer added 11 kills, 17 digs and three blocks while Anderson contributed with 10 kills, 16 digs and one block. Mercer is now just three kills shy of becoming the first Brock player to record 200 kills and 200 digs in a single season.

Junior setter Ally Fast (St. Catharines, Ont.) went over the 600 assist mark on the season registering 39 assists and 15 digs. Sophomore Rachel Roorda (St. George, Ont.) added six kills, three aces and 3.5 blocks with senior Heather Potts (Nepean, Ont.) and freshman Tori Stirling (Whitby, Ont.) chipped in with six and five kills respectively.

For the Warriors, Kate Flanagan added 13 kills and 13 digs in the loss.

The Badgers end the regular season on the road Saturday, February 6th when they take on the Laurier Golden Hawks.
