Women's Volleyball downs Gryphons 3-2

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's volleyball team (2-3 OUA) defeated the Guelph Gryphons by the score of 3-2 (21-25, 25-14, 11-25, 25-18, 15-12) Saturday afternoon at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.

The senior duo of Katelyn Geisbrecht (Virgil, Ont.) and Erin Mercer (Rockwood, Ont.) combined for 27 of the Badgers 49 kills. Geisbrecht recorded a match high 14 kills with a .414 hitting percentage while Mercer registered the double-double adding 13 kills and 16 digs with a season high five block solos.

Junior Shannon Anderson (Newmarket, Ont.) and Tori Stirling (Whitby, Ont.) had identical numbers contributing with seven kills and 10 digs each. Junior setter Ally Fast (St. Catharines, Ont.)  recorded her fifth straight double-double collecting 44 assists and 18 digs in the victory. Another key contributor off the bench was senior Heather Potts (Nepean, Ont.) who recorded six kills on seven attempts for an .857 hitting pecentage.

Leading the Gryphons was Claire Sandor who added the double-double finishing with 14 kills and 14 digs.  Kylen Van Osch contributed with 12 kills and 6.5 blocks. Libero Megan Canavan added a match high 26 digs in the loss.
