Anderson and Fast named OUA West All-Stars, Palmateer named All-Rookie
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Brock University women's volleyball players Shannon Anderson (Newmarket, Ont.), Ally Fast (St. Catharines, Ont.) and Tess Palmateer (Aurora, Ont.) all received conference postseason honours Wednesday. Anderson was named an OUA First-Team All-Star, Fast an OUA West Second Team All-Star and Palmateer was selected to the OUA West All-Rookie Team.
Anderson, who was also selected as an OUA West Second Team All-Star in 2008-09, started in all 19 matches during the regular season and finished second in the OUA West in both points (269.5) and kills (229). She also ranked among team leaders in digs (186) and service aces (25). In 71 sets, she averaged 3.8 points, 3.25 kills and 2.62 digs per set. Anderson added a season high 21 kills twice versus McMaster while collecting a season best 23 digs versus Waterloo (Jan. 28/11).
Fast, a 2007-08 OUA All-Rookie Team selection and the Badgers all-time leader in assists, once again led the OUA in both assists (645) and digs by a setter (204). In 19 matches during the regular season, Fast recorded a team high 11 double-doubles. She registered a season high 58 assists versus Waterloo (Jan. 28/11) and a season high 24 digs against McMaster (Nov. 21/10). In her four-year career to date, Fast ranks first all-time in career assists (2,474) and first in digs by a setter (796).
Palmateer, a top recruit out of high school, continued to improve each match throughout her rookie campaign. She started in 18 regular season contests finishing the season with 170 digs and a team leading 3.14 digs per game.
