Brock women's volleyball sweeps Lancers 3-0, Fast records 2500th career assist

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's volleyball team (1-0 OUA) opened the 2011-12 OUA regular season with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-12) sweep over the Windsor Lancers on the road Friday night.

In the victory, senior setter Ally Fast (St. Catharines, Ont.) recorded a career milestone with her 2500th career assist. She finished the night with 27 assists, seven digs, including her 800th, and two aces to lead the Badgers.

In Brock women's volleyball history, Fast is the all-time leader in career assists (2501) and ranks first all-time in career digs by a setter (803).  

Leading the offense was freshman Lauren Stirling (Whitby, Ont.) who recorded nine kills, five assists and four digs in her first career OUA match. Senior Rachel Roorda (St. George, Ont.) contributed with eight kills, while Tori Stirling (Whitby, Ont.) and sophomore Lucy McLay (Stratford, Ont.) both chipped in with six kills each in the victory.

For the Lancers, Hannah Robson and Kaila Seguin added seven and six kills respectively in the loss.

For the match the Badgers hit .225 (34 kills, 16 errors, 80 attempts). Windsor hit a dismal .041 (21 kills, 18 errors, 74 attempts).

The Badgers next action is Sunday, October 30th when they take on the York University Lions in Toronto.
