Badgers Fast named to Capital One Academic All-America® Second Team

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Brock University women's volleyball player Ally Fast (St. Catharines, Ont.) has received another national honour as she has been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America® College Division Volleyball Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

"Brock University Athletics would once again like to congratulate Ally on another great academic honour," said Brock Director of Athletics Robert Hilson. "Throughout her career at Brock she was the true meaning of student-athlete. She put up Hall of Fame numbers each and every season on the court and was an honours student four consecutive times.

In early November, Fast was named to the Capital One Academic All‐District ® College Division First Team (Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Canada).

In her senior year, Fast started in all 18 matches leading her team to a 10-8 record. In 65 games, the senior setter recorded 573 assists, 201 digs, 16, aces, 20 blocks and a career best 30 kills with a .410 hitting percentage. Fast closed out her illustrious career as the Badgers all-time assists leader with 3,059 and the all-time leader for digs by a setter with 997.

She was a four-time CIS Academic All-Canadian and four-time OUA Academic All-Star.

In her final year she finished with a 4.0 GPA graduating with a Bachelor of Kinesiology (Honours) in the Faculty of Applied Health Science.
