Varsity Blues sweep Brock women's volleyball 3-0
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's volleyball team (5-9 OUA) dropped a 3-0 decision (20-25, 14-25, 19-25) to the Toronto Varsity Blues (6-7 OUA) at the Bob Davis Gymnasium Friday night.
With the loss, Brock drops to ninth place in the OUA standings, while Toronto moves into a three-way tie for sixth place.
Toronto was led by Charlotte Sider who recorded the double-double adding 10 kils and 11 digs. She also collected four aces and one solo block to lead all players with 15 points. Jennifer Neilson added seven kills and four digs while Sarah Chapin chipped in with three kills and a match high four solo blocks.
Leading the Badgers was junior Lucy McLay (Stratford, Ont.) who recorded eight kills. Senior Tori Stirling (Whitby, Ont.) contributed with seven kills and nine digs. Freshman Karlinna O'Leary (Whitby, Ont.) added 14 digs while sophomore setter Lauren Stirling (Whitby, Ont.) finished with 27 assists and five digs in the loss.
As a team, Brock hit just 11.9% adding 33 kills with 21 errors on 101 attempts. The Varsity Blues finished the match with a 26.7% hitting percentage adding 28 kills with five errors on 86 attempts.
The Badgers next action is Sunday, January 20th at 12pm when they travel to Toronto to take on the Ryerson Rams.
