Day One at 2011 CIS Wrestling Championships
THUNDER BAY, Ont. - The Brock University women's wrestling team advanced six of their seven wrestlers to the medal rounds at Day One of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) Wrestling Championships hosted by Lakehead University.
The women are in contention with Alberta and Calgary for the women's overall national title.
Jasmine Mian (48kg) and Diana Ford (51kg) will both go for gold Saturday. Laura Steffler (63kg), Rebecca Levitt (72kg) and Alisha Depass (82kg) will all compete for bronze. Ana Gheorghe (55kg) and Alexis Kilroy (67kg) will both wrestle for 5th place overall.
For the Brock men, rookie trio of Nick Rowe (61kg), John Cottrill (65kg) and Matrixx Ferreira (72kg) all advanced to the bronze medal match in their respective weight class. Kyle Rose (68kg) will go for 5th place with Tim Clement (57kg) wrestling for 7th.
