Tia Schaffer, a fifth-year defender, scored two goals Sunday, Sept. 14 to help the women's soccer team collect a 2-0 victory over the Waterloo Warriors in the Beach Ball Brawl theme game. The Professional Kinesiology student put together a dominant performance, opening the scoring with a header off a corner kick in the 29th minute. In the 89th minute, Schaffer was called on to seal the victory with a penalty kick, and buried her second of the game. On Friday, Sept. 12, Schaffer also logged 90 minutes in a narrow 1-0 loss against the Guelph Gryphons. This is Schaffer's second time collecting Athlete of the Week honours this season, and she now ranks third in goals in the conference.
