ST. CATHARINES, Ont. The Brock University Men's Basketball Team
and Jimmy Rose Lifetime Achievement Award Executive put on a very
successful event Monday night which saw over 250 Niagara Region
Basketball supporters honour Jay Triano (Niagara Falls, Ont.), the
new head coach of the Toronto Raptors, and the late Ken Walsh with
the Jimmy Rose Award.
"It is an honour to receive this lifetime achievement award and to
share this special day in my coaching career with my extended
basketball family in Niagara Region," said Jay Triano.
The evening also saw former Brock Badger greats Ken Murray
(Buffalo, NY), Doug Fast (St. Catharines, Ont.) and David Picton
(Welland, Ont.) be the first inductees into the Brock Men's
Basketball Hall of Fame.
"I would like to thank all of our basketball supporters in Ontario
and the Niagara Region who made this a very special evening," said
Brock head coach and Hall of Fame inductee Ken Murray.
"Congratulations to Jay and Ken who join a very select group of
individuals to receive the Jimmy Rose Memorial Lifetime Achievement
Award and to fellow inductees Doug Fast and David Picton into the
Inaugural Brock Basketball Hall of Fame."
To end the presentations, Larry Miller, a member of the Jimmy Rose
Executive, presented a cheque to Bill Rootes and Brian Bleich for
$4000 to the Brock Basketball Scholarship Fund.
