WELLAND, Ont. - Brock University rower Mike Lewis (Dorchester,
Ont.) continued his strong performance on the international scene
with Team Canada as he collected three medals at the 2010
Commonwealth Rowing Championships this past weekend.
“Mike continues to perform at a very high level of rowing
competition as a member of Team Canada,” said Brock Rowing
head coach Peter Somerwil. “He has worked very hard this past
year and has made a statement about his dedication and commitment
to the sport he loves. He is a great role model to the younger
rowers in our program at Brock.”
Lewis was part of Canada's silver medal winning
Men's Straight Four crew along with teammates Tom Watson,
Josh Morris and Kristjan Joubert. They finished in a time of
6:27.20 behind Australia who captured gold in 6:25.74.
Lewis also collected two bronze medals teaming up with Morris in
the Men's Pair and Men's Double. In the Men's
Pair they finished third in a time of 7:10.74. In the Men's
Double, the duo captured bronze in 7:01.53.
Lewis and Morris also placed fifth in the Men's double
dash in a time of 1:39.37.
