ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's lacrosse team
opened the 2011 CUFLA playoffs with a 13-3 victory over the
McMaster Marauders to advance to the Championship weekend November
4-6 in London, Ont.
In the opening quarter, Brock was tied with the Marauders 1-1,
before breaking it wide open in the second and third quarters,
answering with 10 of the next 11 goals.
The Badgers used a balanced attack with seven different players
registering multiple points. Leading the offense was Jordan Weedmark (Carleton Place, Ont.) who recorded a game high six points
adding three goals and three assists.
Kyle Davis (Caledon, Ont.) had a five-point afternoon
registering three goals and two assists. Dustin Dunn (Peterborough,
Ont.) also added a natural hat trick while Craig England
(Orangeville, Ont.) (3A), Steve Nicholls (Peterborough, Ont.) (2G),
Steve Priolo (St. Catharines, Ont.) (1G, 1A) Mike Bentivenga
(Burlington, Ont.) (2A) rounded out the Brock leaders.
In goal, Brock rookie Cameron Watts (Oakville, Ont.) recorded
nine saves in the victory.
The Badgers now go up against the Carleton Ravens in the CUFLA
Quarter-Finals next Friday, November 4th in London. The University
of Western Ontario is the host of the 2011 CUFLA Championships.
