OSHAWA, Ont. - The Brock Badgers men's hockey team opened their OUA campaign with a 3-2 victory over the UOIT Ridgebacks on Thursday night.

Fresh off of their Halifax exhibition trip that saw them defeat Saint Mary's and lose to Dalhousie, Brock wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Josh Schram finished off Jeff MacPherson's shot on the first shift of the game to give the Badgers a 1-0 lead.

Solid goaltending from Dalton McGrath and a goal-saving shot block from Brandon Kerr kept the Ridgebacks scoreless through one period.

Johnson Andrews fired a shot off the back of UOIT's new early in the second, allowing Ryan Purvis to tip it home, putting Brock up 2-0.

Minutes later, CJ Dickson dangled his way through the Ridgebacks defense short-handed, extending Brock's lead to 3-0.

In the 3rd, UOIT continued to be mystified by the Badgers defense, until they netted a pair in the final two minutes of play.

Emotions boiled over in the dying seconds, with four Ridgebacks getting ejected during the period.

Dalton McGrath was in mid-season form all night registering 30 saves for the victory.
