GUELPH, Ont. – The Brock University women's hockey team (2-9-1 OUA) upset the 7
th ranked Guelph Gryphons on Saturday night with a 3-1 come from behind victory.
 
The Gryphons took the momentum early with a goal just 12 seconds into the game to take a 1-0 lead over the Badgers through the first period.
 
Senior 
Jessica Fickel answered with a goal 1:15 into the second period with 
Brianne Veale registering her first of three assists in the game tying Gryphons at one.
 
Rookie 
Erin McColm collected her second goal of her career to give Brock a 2-1 lead midway through the second period. Veale and 
Leigh Vanderveen drew assists on the eventual game winner.
 
Vanderveen gave the Badgers a two-goal advantage just before the end of the second frame with Veale and 
Jessica Fickel picking up the assists.
 
Jenna Sosnoski shut the door in the third period to help lead the Badgers with a 22 save, 3-1 victory against one of the top teams in the OUA. Guelph's Brittany McMacken allowed three goals on 18 shots in the loss.
 
The Badgers will look to keep this momentum going when they travel to Windsor (6-5-1 OUA) next Friday to battle the Lancers before heading to London for a matchup with the Western Mustangs (7-4-0 OUA).
