ST CATHARINES, Ont. – The Brock University men's basketball team (0-2 OUA) fell by the score of 93-85 to the Toronto Varsity Blues (1-1 OUA) Saturday night in the Bob Davis Gymnasium.

Brock got off to a slow start in the first quarter trailing 9-2 early and finding themselves down 19-10 heading into the second.

It was more of the same story in the second frame with Toronto outscoring the Badgers by the score of 21-16 to trail 40-28 at halftime.

Whenever the momentum seemed to change in Brock's direction the Varsity Blues would answer with a big three-pointer or a bucket plus a foul to end the Badgers threat.

A late rally from Brock got them to within six but it was too little too late as the Varsity Blues put the game away to take the 93-85 win.

Tshing Kasamba and Brandon John led the Badgers on offense finishing with 19 points apiece. Dani Elgadi and Jay Fast had 16 and 12 points respectively to round out the top scorers for Brock.

Alex Hill took the game in his own hands by putting up 35 points on his own to go with seven rebounds and five assists. Hill was almost perfect from the free-throw line going 14 for 15. Devin Johnson added 19 points and nine rebounds for the Varsity Blues.

Brock struggled to find the hoop shooting 38.6% (32-83) from the field including just 25.0% (6-24) from beyond the arc. They did excel at the charity stripe going 15 for 18 (83.3%).

The Varsity Blues shot 43.5% (30-69) from the field, 31.6% from downtown, and 77.1% (27-35) from the free-throw line.

Brock will look to get into the win column next weekend when they take to the road for a pair of games beginning with Algoma on Friday November 8th before heading to Laurentian for a matchup with the Voyageurs on Saturday.
