Brock men's basketball bitten by Lions 85-71

TORONTO - The Brock men's basketball team (0-7 OUA West) remained winless in the OUA regular season as they dropped an 85-71 decision to the York Lions on the road Friday night.

Brock trailed 21-13 after one quarter and found themelves down 40-31 at halftime.

The Badgers trailed 53-48 at the end of three quarters, before putting together a 10-0 run leading 58-53 with eight minutes left in regulation.

With Brock leading 60-58 with 6:36 left in the contest, the host Lions would play spoiler going on a 15-2 run over the next five minutes leading 73-62 with just 1:28 left. York closed out the game going 10-for-10 from the charity stripe.

Leading the way for the Lions was Nathan Culbreath who led all scorers with 22 points and five assists. Ryan Ejim contributed with 20 points and eight rebounds while Richard Iheadindu chipped in with 18 points and five rebounds. Vlad Velici and Nick Tufegdzich both pulled down 11 boards each in the victory.

Issack Egueh (Ottawa, Ont.) led the Brock offense finishing one rebound shy of the double-double with 14 points, nine boards and five assists. Tshing Kasamba (St. Catharines, Ont.) added 14 points and five rebounds while CJ Smith (Scarborough, Ont.) contributed with 11 points and eight rebounds. 

For the game, Brock shot 32.9% (27-for-82) from the field, 24.2% (8-for-33) from three-point land and 9-for-15 (60.0%) from the charity stripe. York finished the game shooting 38.9% (28-for-72) from the floor, 23.8% (5-for-21) from beyond the arc and 68.6% (24-for-35) from the free throw line.

The Badgers return to action Saturday night on the road when they take on the Queen's Gaels at 8pm.
