Brock women's volleyball falls to Mustangs in five

Box Score LONDON, Ont. - The Brock University women's volleyball team (3-6 OUA) lost in five sets (25-22, 26-24, 22-25,22-25, 11-15) against the Western Mustangs Sunday afternoon at Alumni Hall. For the Badgers it was their third straight loss while Western picked up their first victory of thre season.

Brock got off to a strong start winning the first two sets, but could not finish off the Mustangs dropping the final three sets in a tough road loss.

Leading the Badgers were freshman Brianna Hamilton (Ottawa, Ont.) and sophomore Maddie Brown (Scarborough, Ont.) who finished with 12 and 11 kills respectively. Freshman Allison Pumputis (London, Ont.) had a strong match finishing with career high nine kills and 18 digs. Senior Lucy McLay (Stratford, Ont.) contributed with nine kills and nine digs while junior setter Lauren Stirling (Whitby, Ont.) added 45 assists, including her 800th of her career.

Western's Stephanie Kreuter led all players with 26 kills and 24 digs for the double-double. Candice Scott contributed with 16 kills while Kenzie MacDonald rounded out the Mustangs leaders adding 13 kills and 11 digs.

For the match, the Badgers hit just 14.0% adding 53 kills with 27 errors on 186 attempts. Western finished with 69 kills with 34 errors on 197 attempts for a 17.8% hitting percentage.

The Badgers next action is December 1st at 1:00pm when they host the last place Nipissing Lakers (0-10 OUA East) who have won just three sets all season.
