GUELPH, Ont. - The Brock University men's hockey team (6-7-2 OUA) got back in the win column Thursday night as they defeated the Guelph Gryphons by the score of 4-1 on the road. With the victory, Brock sits just two points back of Western, York and Guelph for fifth place in the OUA West.
After a scoreless opening period, Brock got on the board first, five minutes into the second period on the powerplay as
Kaine Geldart (Kingston, Ont.) and
Matt Abercrombie (Sarnia, Ont.) setup
Thomas Stajan (Mississauga, Ont.) for his sixth goal of the season.
Just four minutes later,
Andrew Radjenovic (Hamilton,Ont.) would beat Guelph goaltender Keith Hamilton to put the Badgers up 2-0. Geldart and Stajan added the assists.
The Gryphons would cut the Badgers lead in half just a minute into the third period as Ken Peroff added a powerplay marker making it 2-1. James Merrett and Teal Burns were credited with the assists.
With 4:27 remaining in regulation, the Badgers would go to work again on the powerplay.
Daniel Tanel (Brampton, Ont.) and
Johnson Andrews (NOTL, Ont.) would find Abercrombie, who buried it past Hamilton for his seventh goal of the campaign and the 3-1 lead. Abercrombie is now one goal shy of 50 for his Brock career.
With the Guelph goalie pulled for the extra-attacker, Geldart would add an insurance marker with an empty netter for the the 4-1 Brock win.

Dalton McGrath turned aside 26 of the 27 shots he faced for the victory. Hamilton registered 28 saves in the loss.Â
The Badgers next action is Saturday, November 30th at 7:15 when they host the Windsor Lancers at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
