OTTAWA, Ont. – The Brock University men's hockey team (5-4-1 OUA) continued their winning ways Saturday afternoon on the road with a 3-1 victory over the Carleton Ravens.
Coming off a commanding 6-2 victory on Friday evening against Royal Military College, the Badgers dressed the same lineup in hopes of achieving similar success.
Carleton defenseman Patrick Harrison was accessed a high sticking penalty at 16:50 of the first period to give Brock its first power play of the game.
Thomas Stajan (Mississauga, Ont.) capitalized for the Badgers with the extra man to give his team a 1-0 lead through the opening frame, with assists to
Ryan Purvis (Orillia, Ont.) and
Dan Tanel (Brampton, Ont.).
Josh Schram (Paris, Ont.) built on the Badgers lead, making it 1-0, with his third goal of the season, assisted by Stajan and
Kaine Geldart (Kingston, Ont.).
The Ravens cut the deficit to 2-1 on a tally by Mitch Zion at 13:24 of the second period.
Stajan sealed the win for Brock, with an empty net goal at 19:27 of the third period.
For the second consecutive night,
Dalton McGrath shut the door in impressive fashion. He made 39 saves in the win, as the Ravens outshot Brock 40-18. McGrath, who has been instrumental towards the Badgers 5-4-1 OUA record, holds a 1.96 goals against average and 0.944 SV% this season.
Brock returns home on Friday, November 15th when they host the McGill Redmen at the Seymour Hannah Centre in St. Catharines. Game time is scheduled for 7:15 pm.
