ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – The Brock University women's hockey team dropped to 1-9-1 on the season Saturday night, losing 5-1 at home to the Western Mustangs. It snapped Brock's two-game point streak, which included a win last week, and overtime loss on Friday.

Western attacked the Badgers netminder Jenna Sosnoski early and often, eventually beating her 12:13 into the game on Kendra Deller's 1st goal of the season.

Casey Rosen opened the scoring in the 2nd period, scoring her first of two on the night, at 4:42. Mustangs Captain Carly Rolph added a late tally in the middle frame, solving Sosnoski on the PP with 47 seconds left on the clock. On the next Western man-advantage, it was Rolph notching her 5th goal of the campaign, at 1:57 of the 3rd period.

A sprawling Rosen was set-up by Michelle Saunders at 15:35 of the 3rd to extend Western's lead to 5-0.

Brittany Gilmour broke up the Mustangs shutout in the dying minutes, scoring Brock's first goal in over 70 minutes of action. Melissa Hurrell and Victoria Chapman had helpers on the lone Badger goal of the night.

Sosnoski stopped 25 of 30 shots between the pipes for Brock, while Western's Olivia Ross' only gaffe came on Gillmor's shot, and otherwise made 29 saves.

Brock returns to action next Saturday at Guelph, with three games remaining on the schedule before the winter break.
