The Brock University baseball team (8-1 overall) improved their OUA record to 3-0 after defeating the Laurier Golden Hawks 11-9 and shutting out the McMaster Marauders by the score of 10-0 Sunday.
Versus Laurier, the Badgers took an early 8-0 lead after two innings and held on for the 11-9 victory.
Leading the Badgers was the sophomore duo of
Ben Kirby (Burlington, Ont.) and
Jordan Grant (Mississauga, Ont.). Kirby went 3-for-4 with an RBI double and stolen base while Grant belted a two-run homer and drove in three runs.  Â
Junior
Ricky Ferri (St. Catharines, Ont.) extended his hit streak to six games going 2-for-5 with two RBI. Newcomer

Wil Nicholson (Burlington, Ont.) (1-for-5, double).
On the hill, southpaw
Johnny Hutton (Ancaster, Ont.)Â got the start going 2 1/3 innings allowing five runs on four hits while registering four strikeouts and walking five. Freshman
Jeff Baggaley (Whitby, Ont.)Â made his OUA debut and picked up the victory after allowing three runs on two hits over two innings of work. Â
Phil Owen (Richmond Hill, Ont.)Â came in relief in the 6th and threw 1 2/3 innings allowing no runs on one hit.
Brock then went to senior starter

In the night game against McMaster, southpaw starter

Veres went five complete innings striking out six and walking one for the no-hitter.Â
At the plate, Grant led the way going 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI, finishing with a six RBI day. Nicholson belted a solo homerun to left while Ferri extended his streak to seven games going 1-for-2 with an RBI. Roffey rounded out the Badgers offense going 1-for-3 with an RBI double.
