Brock women's basketball falls to No. 9 ranked Laurier 67-47

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's basketball team (7-6 OUA West) dropped a 67-47 decision to the No. 9 ranked Laurier Golden Hawks (11-2 OUA West) Wednesday night at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.

The Badgers trailed by six after one quarter and found themselves down by 19 at the half trailing 39-20. Late in the third quarter, Laurier extended their lead to 28 on route to the 20-point victory. 

Brock was led by senior Nicole Rosenkranz (Niagara Falls, Ont.) who finished with 19 points and eight rebounds. senior Samantha De Jong (St. Catharines, Ont.) contributed with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Laurier had a balanced attack as Kaitlyn Schenck added 13 points, including going 5-for-5 from the field. Alexandra Spadaro added 10 points while Samantha Jacobs, Doreen Bonsu and Nicole Morrison rounded out the Golden Hawks leaders adding nine, eight and seven points respectively.

Brock struggled from the field shooting just 25.4% (17-for-67) for the game and continued to be cold from beyond the arc going 1-for-10 (10.0%). They were also 12-for-14 (85.7%) from the charity stripe. Lauriershot 45.0% (27-gfor-60) rom the field, 45.5% (5-for-11) from downtown and 72.7% (8-for-11) from the free throw line.

The Badgers next action is Saturday, January 18th when they take on the No. 2 ranked Windsor Lancers on the road.
