Brock women's volleyball cruise past Warriors for 3-0 win

ST CATHARINES, Ont. – The Brock University women's volleyball team (5-8 OUA West) swept the Waterloo Warriors (3-10 OUA West), 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-14), Friday night in a key divisional game inside the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
 
Brock came out firing in the opening set leading the Warriors 16-8 at the technical timeout. The Badgers would go on to take a 1-0 lead with a first set 25-16 win.
 
Shenise Power (North Vancouver) had a great start to the match registering seven kills on nine attempts to go with no errors.
 
Waterloo was able to get ahead early in the second set but Brock found a way to come from behind to sneak away with a 25-21 win and a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
 
The energy in the Bob Davis Gymnasium helped the Badgers cruise to a 25-14 third set win to give them the 3-0 victory.
 
Power led the Badgers on offense collecting 17.5 points with 13 kills, two solo blocks, one block assist and a .407 hitting percentage. She also picked up 11 digs for the double double. Junior setter Lauren Stirling was a magician on the court this night picking up 23 assists, 11 digs, three service aces, two solo blocks and four kills to give her nine points in the match. Senior Lucy McLay rounded out the Brock leaders finishing with six kills and eight digs.
           
Madison Taylor led the way for Waterloo with 13 kills, while Kristen Bartmann had a game high 17 digs.
 
The Badgers had 33 kills in the match to go with 14 errors on 101 attempts and a hitting percentage of .188. Waterloo's hitting percentage was .086 with 26 kills, 17 errors on 105 attempts. 

The Badgers will be back inside the Bob Davis Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon at 2pm in a matchup with the 8th ranked York Lions (10-2 OUA East).
