Brock men's basketball drops 83-56 decision to Warriors

WATERLOO, Ont. - The Brock University men's basketball team (2-15 OUA West) dropped an 83-56 decision to the Waterloo Warriors Wednesday night at the Physical Activities Complex.

Early in the second quarter Brock would cut the lead to four 23-19. Waterloo then went on a 14-2 run over the next seven minutes leading 37-21 with 2:33 left in the first half and led 40-25 after 20 minutes. The Badgers played Waterloo even in the third quarter. Midway through the fourth quarter the Warriors put together a 10-2 run on route to their third victory of the season.

Leading Brock was freshman standout Dani Elgadi (Waterloo, Ont.) who registered his eighth double-double of the regular season adding 24 points and 15 rebounds. Sophomore Brandon John (Toronto, Ont.) contributed with 14 points and five assists. Senior Tshing Kasamba (St. Catharines, Ont.) and freshman Jeremy Angelini (Hamilton, Ont.) chipped in with eight points each in the loss.

Waterloo had all five starters in double figures led by Wayne Bridge who recorded 23 points including four three-pointers. Jaspreet Gill added 14 points while Mike Helsby, Matt Glibota and Myles Charvis chipped in with 11, 10 and 10 points respectively.

Brock shot 33.3% (20-for-60) from the field, 33.3% (5-for-20) from three-point range and 84.6% (11-for-13) from the charity stripe. Waterloo shot 42.0% (29-for-69) from the floor, highlighted by 45.5% (10-for-22) from beyond the arc. They were also 15-for-20 (75.0%) from the free throw line.

The Badgers return to action Saturday afternoon when they take on the Laurier Golden Hawks on the road.
