TORONTO, Ont. - The Brock Badgers men's hockey (1-3 OUA) team picked up its first win of the season defeating the York Lions (2-4 OUA) by the score of 3-1 Saturday night at the Canlan Ice Sports.
Adrian Volpe made 30 saves, and Greg Jambrosich scored twice including a shorthanded tally late to seal the deal.
Sammy Banga had the other Brock goal on the powerplay, as the Badgers finished the game 1-for-7 with the man-advantage.
Brock's penalty kill was also strong killing off five York powerplay opportunities.
"The team responded like we thought they would," said Badgers Head Coach
Murray Nystrom. Â "We competed for loose pucks, elevated our puck possession by limiting unnecessary turnovers and our goalie made timely saves when needed."
Andrew Radjenovic picked up two assists in the victory.
The Badgers outshot the Lions 42-31 overall and now welcome UQTR Friday night to the Seymour-Hannah Centre. Â Game time is 7:15 pm. Â
