The Brock Badgers Men's Hockey team (0-1 OUA) fell behind early and never found their groove as they dropped a 7-2 decision to the Waterloo Warriors (1-0 OUA) Thursday night.
It was both teams regular season opener.
Waterloo opened a 2-0 lead before the game was three minutes old and never looked back.
"We put ourselves in a hole early and today we couldn't get it done," said Brock men's hockey head coach
Murray Nystrom. "We're going have to get and be better, especially in our starts."
Sammy Banga and
Spencer Turcotte had the Badgers goals with
Gregory Jambrosich and
Daniel Tanel adding the assists.Â
Leading the way for Waterloo were Matt Kennedy (2G, 1A) and Andrew Smith (2G) who both recorded two goals each. Adding single markers were Matt Amadio, Colin Behenna and Chris Chappell.
Adrian Volpe got the start between the pipes for Brock but was replaced by
Clint Windsor early in the second period after allowing three goals. Mike Morrison had a strong performance between the pipes picking up the win for Waterloo. Â
Shots were not recorded. Brock went 0-for-4 on the powerplay, while the Warriors were 1-for-4.
The Badgers next return to OUA action on Saturday October 11
th at Western before entertaining Guelph in their home opener on Friday night October 17
th. Game time at the Seymour-Hannah Centre is 7:15 pm.
