LONDON, Ont. - The Brock Badgers women's hockey team (0-7-3 OUA) gave the first place Western Mustangs (10-0-1 OUA) all they could handle Friday night. The Badgers took the nation's sixth ranked team to overtime, eventually dropping a 2-1 decision.
Western led 1-0 after one period of play before
Kailey Peirson scored her first goal of the season, and first of her Ontario University Athletics career, for Brock.
Emily Kelly was the other story for the Badgers making 39 saves on the night as the Mustangs would score 3:08 into the extra period to seal the deal.
Brock finished 0-for-8 on the powerplay, while Western was 2-for-8.
Final shots favoured the Mustangs 41-24, as the Badgers now visit the Windsor Lancers Saturday night.
Brock's next home game is next Saturday afternoon versus Laurentian. Game time at the Seymour-Hannah Centre is 2:15 pm.
