Brock women's basketball falls to No. 1 Lancers 85-54

Box Score 2691WINDSOR, Ont. - The Brock University women's basketball team (2-4 OUA) dropped an 85-54 decision to the No. 1 ranked Windsor Lancers (6-0 OUA) Friday night at the St. Denis Centre.

Windsor jumped out to an early 8-0 lead in the opening three minutes. Brock answered with seven of their own over the next minute to make it 8-7, before the Lancers put together a 13-2 run to take a 22-9 lead with just over two minutes left in the first quarter. The Badgers cut the lead to five before the end of the first, with an 11-3 run, making it 25-20 in favour of Windsor.

Brock would take a one-point lead 30-29 with six minutes left in the second quarter, before going just 1-for-11 from the field the remainder of the quarter. Windsor closed out the quarter on a 13-2 run, leading 42-32 at the half.

In the third quarter, Windsor led 46-36 with 7:39 remaining, before going on a 16-3 run leading 62-42 after 30 minutes. The Badgers offense was cold again going just 1-for-8 in the final seven minutes of the third. 

Windsor put together a 15-0 run in final quarter, on route to their sixth conference victory of the season.

Brock was led by senior Katie Harpur who recorded 12 points and five rebounds and freshman Melissa Tatti who finished with 11 points going 5-for-6 from the field. Kira Cornelissen added nine points in the loss.

Leading the Lancers offense was Korissa Williams who led all scorers with 21 points going 9-for-11 from the field. Also in double figures were Emily Prevost (14 pts, 5 reb), Cheyanne Roger (13 pts, 10 reb) and Caitlyn Longmuir (12 pts). Andrea Kiss chipped in with seven points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

For the game, Brock shot just 36.5% (23-for-63) from the field, including 29.4% (5-for-17) from beyond the arc. They also went to the free throw line just six times going 3-for-6 (50.0%). The Lancers shot 57.4% (31-for-54) from the floor, 33.3% (5-for-15) from three-point range and 81.8% (18-for-22) from the charity stripe. Windsor outrebounded the Badgers 43-19. 

The Badgers return to action Saturday night when they take on the Western Mustangs in London.
