Box Score 2635OTTAWA - The Brock University women's basketball team (0-1 OUA) dropped a 62-59 decision to the Carleton Ravens in their OUA season opener Friday night at the Raven's Nest.

This game was an even matchup between two of the top teams in each conference which saw 13 ties and 12 different lead changes.

In the first 20 minutes, Carleton opened the contest on a 6-0 run and Brock closed out the half on a 6-0 run of their own, leading 34-30 at the half.

In the final minute, the Ravens went up 60-56, after two free throws from Abeer Farhat, with 46 seconds left in regulation. Brock senior Jenalyn Yumol then knocked down a three to make it a one point game, 60-59, with 32 seconds left on the clock. Abeer Farhat would seal the deal draining two more free throws late in the contest for the home victory.

Carleton was led by Lindsey Suprunchuk who recorded 22 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double. Lindsay Shotbolt contributed with 11 points and 14 boards while Natasha Plaskacz rounded out their leaders adding nine points and four assists.

Yumol was the Badgers scoring leader finishing with 15 points, including 4-for-5 from beyond the arc. Kayla Santilli added nine points and five rebounds, while Katie Harpur and Melissa Tatti chipped in with eight points each in the loss.

In a typical Carleton fashion, the score and total scoring chances were low as the two teams combined for just 114, just over a shot every 24-second clock.
For the game, Brock shot 21-for-58 (36.2%) from the field, 10-for-26 (38.5%) from beyond the arc and a dismal 7-for-20 (35.0%) from the charity stripe. The Ravens shot 35.7% (20-for-56) from the floor, just 20% (3-for-15) from long range and 63.3% (19-for-30) from the free throw line.

The Badgers return to action Saturday night when they take on the Ottawa GeeGees at 6pm in the nation's capital.
